BPL, the world’s leading insurance broker specialising in credit and political risk, has today launched BPL Impact, a strategic programme to scale the firm’s commitment to charitable giving and community engagement. As part of the initiative, BPL has pledged a minimum of £1.2 million over the next three years to support causes closely connected to its people and purpose.
BPL Impact brings structure to the firm’s long-standing charitable activity, aligning support around four focus areas: Social Empowerment & Inclusion; Humanitarian Response & Resilience; Environmental Protection and Health & Wellbeing. These pillars reflect input from across the business and are designed to keep the firm’s impact targeted, measurable and relevant as it grows.
The strategy launches with a core group of headline charity partners. These include the East End Community Foundation, which funds frontline organisations working to tackle inequality across Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham; Insulate Ukraine, a charity delivering cost effective and shatterproof insulated windows for homes damaged in the conflict; and WeSeeHope, which partners with community-based organisations across Southern and Eastern Africa to equip vulnerable children and families with skills to build sustainable futures.
Each reflects the kind of high-trust, purpose-led partnership BPL seeks to foster through BPL Impact. They join a wider group of existing partners such as Embrace, Code Brave and Brass For Africa, with other new partnerships to be announced shortly.
While financial support is central, BPL Impact also formalises a broader commitment, offering employees paid volunteering days, match funding for fundraising, event support, and use of BPL’s platform to raise the profile of partner organisations. The strategy is overseen by a cross-functional Charity Committee, ensuring it reflects the values and priorities of BPL colleagues worldwide.
James Reynolds, CEO, BPL, said:
“BPL Impact enables us to build genuine partnerships with the charities we support. By combining financial backing with practical support, we can help our partners plan with confidence and focus on delivering lasting impact. BPL has always been a people business built on relationships and trust. BPL Impact brings that same approach to how we give back.”
Matthew Graham, Compliance Director and Chair of BPL’s Charity Committee, added:
“BPL Impact brings structure to what has long been part of our culture. The four pillars were shaped by listening to our people, understanding what causes matter to them and where they want to make a difference. We are looking forward to building on this new structure to help us direct our support and collective commitment even more effectively.”
BPL Impact formalises decades of charitable engagement by the company and its people, from multi-year funding for international development charities to hands-on volunteering with local community foundations. The strategy marks a step change in how the firm integrates giving into its corporate purpose and a renewed commitment to sustained, responsible impact.
